Louisville Basketball is a Top 10 Coaching Job. Dysfunctional right now, but more often than not. A premier job that had two men in charge from 1971 thru 2017, Denny Crum and Rick Pitino. Chris Mack was a slam dunk hire that didn’t work out. He took Xavier to the Second Weekend of the NCAA Tournament 4 out of 9 years. He’ll succeed somewhere else. Louisville’s next coach will likely have a lesser resume. One of MANY names mentioned is Alabama’s Nate Oats. I could see where Louisville would be attractive. Basketball is THE Sport for the fans and alums. It plays in a modern, NBA style arena to full houses. It plays in a great basketball league that is ripe for the taking with UNC struggling and Coach K retiring. Here’s my two cents, don’t worry over Nate Oats leaving. I want him to stay. All Alabama fans want him to stay. If he leaves though, don’t look far. Keep Bryan Hodgson and Antoine Pettway. The two are killing it in recruiting and with the transfer portal in College Basketball…older, proven Head Coaches are not a must anymore. If a choice has to be made, be quick, and go young and in house.
