I’ll admit it…when I attended the news conference announcing The Bruno’s Memorial Classic, now The Regions Tradition, I didn’t think it would work. This was the winter of 1992 and the thought of “Old Golfing Legends” playing on a tour designed for people that were past their prime seemed very minor league. 30 years later, it remains one of my favorite events. Wednesday’s Pro-Am has always been dotted with stars. (Rockstar pictured with Nick Saban) The event hit a lull for several years when it was away from Greystone, but the return to its original home has pumped life back into the event. It really isn’t about the golf…that is just a reason to gather together. It is about the people. The laughter. The giving. Congratulations to Gene Hallman and his team, they have secured this event in town through the year 2032. Geez, 2032! And to think, I was the idiot in 1992 that didn’t think it work. – Jim Dunaway
