Auburn’s Jabari Smith is the likely NUMBER ONE OVERALL PICK in tonight’s NBA Draft (7:00 pm central on ESPN). It will be the first for Auburn. In fact, it will be the first for our state and a rarity for The SEC. Shaquille O’Neal was the first in 1992. Then a trio of Kentucky players John Wall, Anthony Davis, and Karl-Anthony Towns in 2010, 2012, and 2015. Ben Simmons (2016-LSU) and Anthony Edwards (2020-Georgia) were the last to do it. Jabari can become the 7th SEC player to do it and make Auburn the 4th different school in that club. – Jim Dunaway
