Is the SEC officially the best conference in college football again? After a wild Week 2 that featured huge wins for Alabama, Auburn, Texas and Mississippi State — while Ohio State and Oregon both went down — we’re breaking down what it all means LIVE!
🐘 ALABAMA DOMINATES KENTUCKY AFTER HALFTIME
The Alabama Crimson Tide survived a rough first half in Lexington before completely taking control against the Kentucky Wildcats, turning a 17-13 halftime deficit into a convincing 45-17 SEC road victory.
Kalen DeBoer’s Crimson Tide outscored Kentucky 32-0 in the second half, while the Alabama defense held the Wildcats to just 209 total yards and only 62 yards after halftime. Linebacker Luke Metz provided one of the biggest plays of the afternoon with a pick-six, and Alabama forced three turnovers.
But was the biggest development Alabama finally finding something in the running game?
The Crimson Tide rushed for 155 yards, led by Daniel Hill’s career-high 104 rushing yards and a touchdown. After questions about Alabama’s offensive line and its ability to consistently establish the run, was Saturday’s second-half performance a sign that the Tide is beginning to find its identity?

🦅 BYRUM BROWN AND AUBURN KEEP ROLLING
The Auburn Tigers moved to 2-0 with a dominant 43-8 win over Southern Miss in Alex Golesh’s Jordan-Hare Stadium debut.
Auburn absolutely controlled the line of scrimmage, rushing for a massive 343 yards while limiting the Southern Miss Golden Eagles to just 50 rushing yards. Auburn has now opened the season with back-to-back games of more than 300 rushing yards for the first time since 2021.
The Auburn quarterback completed 18 of 29 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns, added 88 rushing yards, and even caught a touchdown pass. Brown continues to look extremely comfortable running Alex Golesh’s offense as Auburn prepares to enter SEC play.
🏆 IS THE SEC THE BEST CONFERENCE IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL?
Two weeks into the 2026 college football season, the SEC suddenly has a strong argument for being the nation’s best conference. Meanwhile, the Big Ten took some major hits.
No. 1 Ohio State collapsed against Texas after taking a 23-3 lead into the fourth quarter, while No. 6 Oregon suffered a stunning 39-31 loss at Oklahoma State. The Big Ten went just 2-6 in Power Four nonconference games during the weekend.
The new AP Top 25 reflects the shift: the SEC has nine ranked teams, including six of the Top 10, while Texas has climbed all the way to No. 1.
🔥 Has the SEC already reclaimed its spot as college football’s best conference?
🤘 IS TEXAS REALLY THE BEST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY?
For three quarters against Ohio State, the Texas Longhorns looked anything but the best team in college football. Then everything changed.
Trailing 23-3 entering the fourth quarter, Arch Manning and Texas scored three unanswered touchdowns to stun the Buckeyes 24-23 in Austin. It was the largest fourth-quarter comeback ever by a team defeating an AP No. 1 opponent.
Arch Manning caught fire late, Texas’ defense slammed the door, and Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns completed a comeback that immediately changed the national championship conversation.
We’re breaking down Alabama football, Auburn football, Texas football, SEC football, the College Football Playoff race, Arch Manning, Byrum Brown, Daniel Hill, Kalen DeBoer, Alex Golesh and everything that came out of a chaotic Week 2 of the 2026 college football season.
