The Next Round ultimately began as The Round Table. Broadcasted on WJOX in Birmingham, the show quickly became the most successful sports talk show in the Southeast. Hosted by Jim Dunaway, Ryan Brown, and Lance Taylor, the show was known for its in-depth discussions on college football, particularly focusing on the Southeastern Conference (SEC), and for engaging listeners through calls and social media interactions.

In 2021 the trio saw an opportunity to take a modernized approach to broadcast media through live and on-demand streaming. The launch of The Next Around allowed Dunaway, Brown and Taylor to continue expanding their audience outside of the declining terrestrial radio broadcast through the use of audio and video. The Next Round, an independent, uncut, unedited, sports talk and entertainment show continues the tradition of lively and engaging sports talk, news, and entertainment.
