Last Night Ryan Brown got to hang out with Nick Saban on The Hey Coach (picture above). One of the more interesting conversations was off the top when Coach was asked about the old Pat Dye farming cliche “The Hay is in The Barn”. The Alabama Coach explained that even if the last full practice was over Thursday, “The Hay is never in The Barn” until kickoff. He explained the substitution walk-thru practice that the guys will do before flying to Austin. He explained the number of mental reps they’ll do in meetings up until leaving for the stadium. He explained the importance of the player’s hydration, rest, and eating habits until kickoff. Simplifying his point, The Alabama Coach can SEE THE BARN on Thursday Night, but the hay is not in it. – Jim Dunaway
