Auburn Baseball will try and punch their ticket to Omaha tonight in a “win or go home” game at Oregon State. (6:30 pm central on ESPN-2) The real story from the weekend is the team who WILL NOT be at The College World Series. Notre Dame upset #1 Tennessee in Knoxville. The Number One overall seed NOT winning the National Championship isn’t unusual, Miami FL was the last and only team to do that in 1999. This Vols team was supposed to be different. The amazing 57-9 record in the always competitive SEC, and the home record in Knoxville where the two losses to the Irish still left them 38-5 on home turf. All that said, the reason this was one of the biggest sports stories of the weekend is because of HOW Tennessee plays the game. Big Orange puts on a show. They are loud, in your face with bat flips, bird flips, and coaches who are just as on the edge. If you loved that style or were just a Tennessee fan…you hate to see the show end. If you were in the majority, you were cheering for The Irish. Yep, Tennessee did one more thing that was amazing…they united 13 SEC fan bases to CHEER FOR NOTRE DAME. – Jim Dunaway
