I’m enjoying ‘Winning Time’ on HBO. The Jerry Buss story of buying The Lakers. I didn’t expect it to be so fictional, but once I accepted it, it has been entertaining. Nobody has come off looking worse in the over-dramatization of the script than Jerry West. Insecure. Angry. Depressed. Cold. Rage-Filled Drunk. The weekly episode release has gotten so bad that West has demanded an apology, a retraction, and damages from the network. It claims the show has made a “baseless” and “malicious assault” on the character of the former Lakers player, coach, and executive. They’ll never call me to testify, but now I look at West and Kareem differently after this dramatization. – Jim Dunaway
