We will all stop to remember the 9/11 Attacks on America Saturday. Different stadiums all over College Football will have ceremonies and moments of silence. Like all of you, I remember where I was that day and my thoughts about the future. I was part of The Rick and Bubba Radio Show and was on the air when the second plane hit the building. I uttered the words…not knowing, “We are under attack” live on the air. My job at NBC 13 in Birmingham that day was to take photographer Wes Harrell and I to Auburn to do our weekly interviews and live shots. What do we do? Business as usual. Or so we thought. Driving down, before reaching Childersburg, we got the call that Auburn was cancelling their media availability. We turned around. There was no sports for a few days and I helped with news coverage and like most of us, worried about our future. My daughter Harper was not 1 yet. I would hold her and wonder what her world would be like? Would we ever go to stadiums again? Gather as Americans, free to enjoy events together?

I’ll remember the attacks Saturday. I’ll remember the lives lost. I’ll remember the bravery of those who died trying to save people and those that saved people and survived. I’ll remember how this attack brought us a little closer together. This isn’t the same world as September 10th, 2001…but I’m proud of what we have done since that day. I’ll remember my fears, my tears and I will cherish full stadiums and their cheers. God Bless You and God Bless America indeed.
