The Stallions completed “The Stampeded” winning The USFL Championship Game Sunday over Philadelphia. The exciting game was a perfect cherry on the top finish to what I believe was a better-than-expected season. The football was good and entertaining, The nostalgia of old team names and uniforms from the 80’s felt right, and the crowds for the only home team and championship games were just enough. Now the same question happens with any league…will we see you again? The USFL says they’ll be back in 2023. There is talk of playing in more cities than Birmingham. There is talk of expansion. Birmingham has been here before, winning a championship and then having the league fall apart around them. Whatever tomorrow holds, don’t let it water down what was accomplished in The Summer of ‘22 by the championship Stallions. – Jim Dunaway
