The transfer portal gets kicked around all the time in the football and basketball world, but it impacts other sports like Softball just as much. Alabama lost two good bats to the portal in recent years in Skylar Wallace (to Florida) and KB Sides (to Arkansas). Now The Tide Softball Team is dealing with the biggest exits in program history. (READ STORY HERE) Six players at the time I’m writing. It is the Freshman leaving that makes you wonder if this portal experience is a good thing. Lord, Bloodworth, and Goodnight were all big contributors…just not every game and every at bat. You’ve got to find YOUR PLACE in the world, and maybe Wallace and Sides have shown that there is life after Alabama. Best of luck to the departing players, but for Alabama softball, the announcements of Montana Fouts, Ally Shipman, Jenna Johnson, and Ashley Prange returning means the program is in good hands with veterans who are entrusted with 27 years of the programs legacy. – Jim Dunaway
