College Basketball’s Top Regular Season Scorers

The NCAA’s Regular Season Leading Scorers

Now that the regular season has come to an end and conference champions have been crowned, let’s take a look at who finished among the top scorers in college basketball this season.

No. 5 Dominique Daniels: 23.2 PTS | 3.7 REB | 3.2 AST | 43.7 FG%

Dominique Daniels had an amazing season this year with CBU. As a senior, he certainly filled a leadership role and led CBU to its very first appearance in March Madness. Daniels is a point guard who is very effective when it comes to shot creation. He is a very good shooter, but what’s more impressive is his ability to get open looks. Not every player can shoot the lights out, but when you can create shots like Daniels does, you can still fool defenders. All in all, Dominique is a phenomenal talent who could shock some people in this tournament.

No. 4 Daeshun Ruffin: 23.3 PTS | 2.8 REB | 5.3 AST | 42.6 FG%

Daeshun Ruffin is a senior guard for the Jackson State Tigers. He has had a solid career and was a standout player in the SEC in previous years. Now dominating in the SWAC, Ruffin earned SWAC Player of the Year honors. He also led his team to its eighth March Madness appearance—and its first in 19 years. The sky is the limit for a player like Ruffin. He’s super quick and can score from all over the court. If he and his team get hot, they could surprise some people and make a run this year.

No. 3 P.J. Haggerty: 23.4 PTS | 5.3 REB | 3.8 AST | 48.9 FG%

P.J. Haggerty is having a dominant season for the Kansas State Wildcats. Standing at 6’4″, he has a natural advantage at the guard position. His size allows him to be efficient around the rim while still being an elite shooter. Unfortunately, his team did not make the tournament this year and finished with a disappointing record, especially given Kansas State’s usual standards. Still, one thing remained true all season: Haggerty was going to score. He consistently ranked among the top five in scoring average. If he returns for another year, he could do serious damage on a stronger team.

No. 2 Jordan Riley: 23.6 PTS | 6.0 REB | 2.5 AST | 41.9 FG%

Jordan Riley has been an absolute force for the Pirates this season. While ECU did not make the tournament, Riley still performed at a very high level. Most notably, his defense stood out. Being a lockdown defender while also scoring at this level is rare in today’s game, but Riley has it down to a science. As a senior, he’s certainly finishing his career on a high note.

No. 1 A.J. Dybantsa: 25.3 PTS | 6.7 REB | 3.8 AST | 51.3 FG%

Entering the season as the No. 1 high school recruit in the country, A.J. Dybantsa has delivered one of the best freshman seasons we’ve seen in years. Expectations were extremely high, and he may have exceeded them. Dybantsa has led BYU to another tournament appearance as a No. 6 seed, despite one of the toughest schedules in the country. The way he and his team handled that challenge has been very impressive. A.J. is developing into a generational offensive playmaker—there’s truly no spot on the court where he can’t score. The future is bright for him, and BYU could make a serious run in this year’s March Madness.
