Alabama football is facing serious questions after an embarrassing 26-10 loss to Tennessee, and former Crimson Tide national championship quarterback Jake Coker isn’t holding back in his assessment of what went wrong!
On this episode of Last Call, Jake Coker joins Mick Gillispie to break down Alabama’s offensive struggles, Keelon Russell’s difficult performance at Neyland Stadium, Ryan Grubb’s controversial play-calling, and the mounting pressure on head coach Kalen DeBoer as the Crimson Tide prepare for a critical SEC showdown with Texas A&M.
After managing just 201 yards of total offense, converting only 2 of 13 third downs, and getting shut out in the second half against Tennessee, Alabama has plenty of problems to solve. Is the offensive system too complicated for Keelon Russell? Is Ryan Grubb putting his young quarterback in positions to fail? And can Alabama save its College Football Playoff hopes?

Coker provides a former championship quarterback’s perspective on Russell’s struggles reading defenses, recognizing pressure, and executing RPOs. Is Alabama’s offensive philosophy working in the SEC? Jake examines Grubb’s play-calling, the lack of adjustments, pass protection breakdowns, and whether DeBoer needs to take a more active role in correcting the offense.
