Alabama football is once again at the center of the college football conversation. Ryan Grubb’s comments about Crimson Tide fans, Keelon Russell’s rapid development at quarterback, concerns about Kane Wommack’s defense, the SEC’s new nine-game conference schedule and a dangerous South Carolina matchup headline a loaded discussion.
We start with the controversy surrounding Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, who criticized the “boo birds” after the Crimson Tide fell behind Florida State 21-6 before eventually rallying for a 50-36 win. Grubb later apologized to the Alabama fan base. How should coaches and players handle criticism in Tuscaloosa, and how different is the environment under Kalen DeBoer compared to the Nick Saban era?
The conversation also turns to Keelon Russell, who continues to show why his ceiling is so intriguing. Defensively, there are still questions. Florida State quarterback Ashton Daniels threw for 377 yards on just 17 completions—an average of 22.2 yards per completion. Duce Robinson finished with 135 receiving yards, while Micahi Danzy, Jayvan Boggs and Samuel Singleton Jr. all produced explosive gains. Alabama did, however, intercept Daniels three times.
