Super Bowl 56 saw an incredible game between the Rams and Bengals where LT’s Rams came back in the final two minutes to get their second Super Bowl win in franchise history. As much as people watch the game for the football, the halftime show and commercials are a selling point to the average consumer.

Which companies had the best ads? Here are my favorites, feel free to send yours to us on Twitter!

5. Kia

I feel like Kia usually does pretty good with their commercials, despite it being a lower level car brand. I thought this was a good commercial promoting their electric cars (which is pretty much all anyone promotes in these ads anymore). It had a nice little story to it and was just an overall feel good commercial (as feel good as you can have for a robotic dog). It also had my dog watching intently.

4. Uber Eats

Jennifer Coolidge has had a bit of a resurgence here as of late, and to add in Cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun) and others made this one a good commercial. The ones that don’t think too hard and are just stupid funny are usually the best. No thinking, just celebrities eating weird things that shouldn’t be eaten.

3. Meta

This may not have been a favorite for other people, but I really liked this one from the Chuck E Cheese-style nostalgia hit through the future of life with the metaverse. Honestly surprised we didn’t get more metaverse style commercials, but it did show the power of the metaverse and both the old times and new times you can enjoy with virtual reality.

If you don’t have a Meta Quest 2 (formerly called Oculus Quest 2), I do recommend it. It’s super fun to play.

2. FTX

Larry David is hilarious, and Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of the best comedy shows on TV. I was wondering where this commercial was going to go, but I love that it went to crypto as something he had no idea about. I thought it was a funny way to bring up how people like Larry look at crypto, but that he still needed to pay attention to it so that he didn’t miss out.

1. Coinbase

I know this isn’t much to share after the fact, but I thought it was absolutely genius marketing. For anyone complaining or saying it wasn’t good, they are probably not in the crypto core demo anyway. Scanning a QR code is something not everyone will instantly do, but I just knew it was going to be something stupid for some company I don’t care about. I was surprised to see it was a Coinbase ad (which I do have a Coinbase portfolio already), and a chance to win $1 million as well.

The marketing team from Coinbase (or whoever they hired to do this) deserves every raise possible.

Honorable Mentions

BMW

Good star power in this one, and a lot of CGI in the budget. Another electric car ad. The baby Pegasus was the best part though.

Chevrolet

I can’t imagine that many people will actually buy an electric Chevy Silverado, but they did a good job marketing it regardless. Between a Sopranos commercial with Meadow and AJ Soprano and the second spot with the Austin Powers villains, they did a great job. When I heard The Sopranos theme, I instantly jumped up waiting to see what it was. I didn’t necessarily care about it being a car commercial, but it was fun to watch a new version of the old intro.

I’m just glad Meadow learned how to park finally after that awful parking job in the finale.

Lays

The best part of this ad was the throwback to the 40 Year Old Virgin with these two sitting there talking to each other.
