I’ll be at Jordan-Hare Stadium representing The Next Round Saturday Night. We all agree, this is the most exciting game on the slate this weekend. It may seem normal for Ole Miss and Auburn to play each other EVERY YEAR now, but that wasn’t always the case. The Rebels and Tigers DID NOT PLAY A REGULAR SEASON SEC GAME between 1953 and 1972. That is where the series gets interesting. Ole Miss and Auburn actually met in TWO BOWL GAMES in that gap. The Rebels beat Auburn in the 1965 LIBERTY BOWL. The Tigers returned the favor beating Ole Miss 35-28 in the 1971 GATOR BOWL. That was Archie Manning’s last game as the Ole Miss QB. Pat Sullivan was Auburn’s QB. He would win The Heisman the next season. Matt Corral and Bo Nix is not Manning vs. Sullivan, but this could be a fun QB Battle. The Winner stays in The SEC Western Division Race. See you in Auburn.
