The SEC’s Passing Leaders Through Week 11
No. 5 Marcel Reed: 2193 YDS 19 TD 6 INT 247.3 YPG
Once again, Marcel Reed puts up another outstanding performance leading his team to 38 points and a victory over No. 22 Missouri. Year after year Texas A&M is always credited with having the talent but not being able to pull through. I think this is the year the Aggies finally succeed, and Marcel Reed is who I would credit with that. This team continues to put up big numbers against high ranked opponents and stay undefeated.
No. 4 Diego Pavia: 2440 YDS 21 TD 5 INT 244 YPG
Coming into this week, I think Pavia and Vandy, as a whole, expected Auburn to be a fairly easy game. That, however, was not the case. Pavia found himself down 10 points at half-time due to a very unexpecting Auburn offense. But Pavia fought back and had an incredible second half to go on and beat the Tigers 45-38. Pavia may not be the biggest, fastest or the strongest. But somehow, some way he always finds a way to fight back and win football games.
No. 3 Taylen Green: 2372 YDS 19 TD 8 INT
Once again the Razorbacks lost another close game, yet Taylen Green still performed at a high level, leading his team to 38 points. Green hasn’t necessarily been the best this year but he has been super consistent. He has had a few games with some turnover issues, but other than that he is still performing at a high level. I think that if you put Taylen on any other high caliber team, then we are more than likely looking at him to be a Heisman candidate. All that being said I think Taylen Green is still a very good quarterback despite his record.
No. 2 Ty Simpson: 2461 YDS 21 TD 1 INT
Ty Simpson continues to prove himself week in and week out. So far he is looking to be one of, if not the Heisman favorite. Sure you have guys like Mendoza and Julian Sayin. But the thing that separates Ty from other great quarterbacks is that he only has one interception this whole year, while also beating better opponents. If Ty keeps it up, then he’s looking at putting the Tide in contention for the national title.
No. 1 Joey Aguilar: 2737 YDS 21 TD 8 INT
Joey has had a pretty solid season thus far. He has gotten into a bit of turnover trouble, but one thing is for sure, is that he is going to put up numbers and produce big plays with high scoring games. I think if you take back a few of his turnovers, then you’re looking at potentially 2, and maybe even a 1 loss Tennessee team. I think if Joey can focus on playing a bit more conservative then he and his team will see a big improvement.
