The SEC’s Receiving Leaders Through Week 9

The SEC’s Receiving Leaders Through Week 9

No. 5 Isaiah Sategna III: 624 YDS  5 TD  78 YPG

Isaiah Sategna III is emerging as one of the SEC leading receivers with impressive stats this season.

This is the first time we have seen Sategna on this list this season and it is for good reason. Even though Oklahoma lost against Ole Miss, Sategna had 6 receptions for 131 yards being his best game so far this season. I think this is a dude with a lot of talent who has kind of been floating under the radar. In my opinion I would suggest getting this guy more targets and hopefully the Sooners can get start winning again because of him. He’s definitely contributing to those we consider as leading receivers in the SEC.

No. 4 Braylon Staley: 628 YDS  3 TD  78.5 YPG

Tennessee has a phenomenal receiving room this year being that this is one of two guys on this list. Staley started off slow this year but has come alive recently in this offense and is starting to become another one of, quarterback, Joey Aguilar’s favorite targets. As one of the SEC’s leading receivers, last week Staley had 6 receptions for 105 yards contributing to a conference, road win over Kentucky. I think we will be seeing more and more of Staley in the near future.

No. 3 O’Mega Blake: 643 YDS  4 TD  80.4 YPG

O’Mega Blake started off the year great and has been showing how he is a very talented wide receiver and most certainly Arkansas wide receiver one. His chemistry with Taylen Green has created a very good offense this year for the Razorbacks. That being said, Blake had one of his worse games last week against Auburn but I attribute most of that to how good Auburn’s defense is. Also noted as one of the SEC leading receivers, I expect Blake to bounce back this week and hopefully contribute to a win for Arkansas.

No. 2 Mario Craver: 716 YDS  4 TD  89.5 YPG

This guy Mario Craver is one of the fastest receivers I have seen in a while. He is super shifty and has great agility which leads to his ability to have a lot of yards after the catch. Mike Elko loves to use Craver as a guy out of the back field and put him on a lot of screen passes and short routes just because of his talent to get up the field. On the other hand, Craver has been very up and down this year. For instance he has one game where he had over 200 receiving yards but then has 2 or 3 games where he barely got 40. His talent is evident as he continues to rank among the SEC leading receivers. So while he may be a bit inconsistent, his talent should never be questioned.

No. 1 Chris Brazzell: 740 YDS  8 TD  92.5 YPG

Brazzell has been near the top of this list every single week and there looks to be no signs of him slowing down. Him and Joey Aguilar have come together this year to make one of the best QB/WR duos in all of college football. As the leader among SEC receivers, this guy is consistent week in and week out and is a huge part of how good the volunteers offense is this year. Hopefully he can contribute to some big time wins for Tennessee moving forward and possibly make it into the playoffs.
