The SEC’s Rushing Leaders Through Week 8

The SEC’s Rushing Leaders Through Week 8

No. 5 DeSean Bishop: 604 YDS  7 TD  86.29 YPG

We have not seen a ton of Tennessee’s rushing games this year since they are very good through the air, but after seeing how well Bishop did on the ground this week, perhaps the Vols need to utilize him more often. Even more so because it can open up better opportunities for the passing game. Controlling the line of scrimmage is what Tennessee’s offense has been missing in their big losses to Alabama and Georgia

No. 4 Jadan Baugh: 611 YDS  4 TD  87.29 YPG

Jadan Baugh rushed for a career high this weekend having 151 rushing yards in a big time win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Seeing how well Baugh did this weekend, it makes you wonder why we haven’t already seen this before and if the Gators will start using the backfield more often. I was very impressed with Jadan Baugh this weekend and hopefully we can see more out of him for the remainder of the season.

No. 3 Kewan Lacy: 618 YDS  10 TD  88.29 YPG

After the loss of Quinshon Judkins in the 2024 season, we missed out on any sort of ground game from the Rebels last year. Kewan Lacy has brought it back this year, and has been running the ball very effectively and efficiently, which has been a big part of Ole Miss success this year. Being able to control the line of scrimmage is super important, and Kewan Lacy is doing that for the Rebels.

No. 2 Mike Washington Jr.: 671 YDS  5 TD  95.86 YPG

Mike Washington Jr. just ran for 147 yards this week, which is his best performance so far this year. I personally think that the Texas A&M probably went into that game with the mindset to just shutdown Taylen Green, which opened up the opportunity for Washington Jr. to go off.

No. 1 Ahmad Hardy: 840 YDS  11 TD  120 YPG

At number one on this list, once again, is Ahmad Hardy. Hardy is looking like the best back in college football right now, and he is doing it week after week. He is the biggest reason for Missouri’s success thus far in the season. On top of all that he is only 5’9 210, which is not small but definitely not the type of guy you’d expect to be dominating the ground game in college football.
