Florida State stunned Alabama 31-17 in Tallahassee to open the 2025 season, a loss that became one of the defining moments of Alabama’s year. But the two programs went in very different directions afterward: Alabama recovered to finish 11-4 and reach the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, while FSU finished 5-7. Alabama enters the 2026 rematch 2-0, while Florida State arrives in Tuscaloosa at 1-1.
So is Kalen DeBoer’s team actually thinking about revenge—or has Alabama already moved far beyond what happened last August?

Lane Kiffin returns to Oxford for the first time as LSU’s head coach, and virtually everything surrounding this game has become a story. Ole Miss has increased security for Kiffin’s return, a fence has reportedly been added around the visiting-team bus arrival area, LSU defensive end Princewill Umanmielen was served court papers stemming from Ole Miss’ lawsuit, and the rhetoric surrounding the matchup has spilled into Louisiana politics.
Then there’s LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt. After initially being listed as doubtful, Leavitt was upgraded to questionable ahead of Saturday night’s Top-10 showdown, adding another layer of intrigue to one of the wildest game weeks of the 2026 college football season.
🐶 MISSISSIPPI STATE at SOUTH CAROLINA — How High Can the Bulldogs Climb?
Mississippi State and South Carolina are both 2-0 heading into their SEC opener in Columbia. The Bulldogs are coming off an impressive 38-13 road win at Minnesota, while South Carolina has opened with victories over Kent State and Towson.
