The SEC’s Rushing Leaders Through Week 5
No. 5 Fluff Bothwell: 70 ATT, 405 YDS, 5.79 YPC, 6 TD, 81 YPG
Mississippi State running back Fluff Bothwell has emerged onto the scene of college football as a very good running back and exceeded expectations. Bothwell was only a 3 star recruit out of high school and played last year at South Alabama as a freshman. Bothwell seems like an underdog story in the making, and will hopefully continue to prove people wrong.
No. 4 Taylen Green: 54 ATT, 441 YDS, 8.17 YPC, 2 TD, 88 YPG
Taylen Green, quarterback from Arkansas, currently ranks 4th overall in the SEC in rushing. Yes, you heard that correctly, a quarterback. Taylen is also doing this with the fewest number of attempts (54) compared to the rest of the top 5. Taylen Green also ranks 4th in passing amongst the SEC and is making a very good case for himself to be a Heisman candidate. Especially given the fact that he does not have near as much talent around him, as opposed to other juggernaut SEC schools. Taylen is putting on a fantastic performance so far on the ground, as well as in the air.
No. 3 Kewan Lacy: 102 ATT, 445 YDS, 4.36 YPC, 8 TD, 89 YPG
Ole Miss running back Kewan Lacy is doing great things right now for the Rebels and is a big part of their success so far in the season. Lacy is a guy that simply refuses to go down. A very hard runner and a guy that I expect to see do great things. Kewan Lacy is also only a sophomore. So not only is he already a good back but has a lot ahead of him and will most likely continue to dominate.
No. 2 Seth McGowan: 68 ATT, 387 YDS, 5.69 YPC, 7TD, 96.75 YPG
Running back Seth McGowan out of Kentucky has been lighting it up through the first 4 games. McGowan is now a senior, taking on a big leadership role and showing why he deserves to be among the top running backs in the country. His offensive line is not great, yet he still finds a way to put up big numbers. I expect McGowan to continue to dominate throughout the rest of the season.
No. 1 Ahmad Hardy: 103 ATT, 730 YDS, 7.09 YPC, 9 TD, 146 YPG
Missouri’s running back, Ahmad Hardy is blowing the running back competition out of the water. Hardy is putting up numbers through week 4 that some running backs do not achieve throughout a whole season. Ahmad is also only a sophomore yet is playing like a senior. Mizzou has got something special at the running back position and it will most likely help them win big games.
